Things to do

We are very lucky to live in this part of the world as the English Lake District is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Known for its beautiful landscape of mountains, rivers and lakes it has long been inspiration for writers, artists and poets.

We've put together a few leaflets detailing short walks guests can do straight from the door, into Kendal along the former canal path, through woods and fields next to the River Kent.

Our nearest tourist attractions are Sizergh Castle (National Trust) and Levens Hall.

The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal hosts events and exhibitions, the Garden Cafe is totally vegan and Baba Ganoush is vegan-friendly.  If you're eating out in Kendal in the evening you'll find vegan food at the Brewery, the Cortillo Lounge, Pedro's Casa, La Comida, Sapore plus others.

Kendal also hosts the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry, Kendal Climbing Wall, and is well known for Kendal Mint Cake.  You can walk the ruins of Kendal Castle which was the family home of Catherine Parr, surviving wife of Henry VIII.

Further into the Lakes popular attractions include:

For further attractions go to Visit Cumbria - the South Lakes area of the Lake District

It takes just over an hour and a half to get to Keswick on the 555 bus, stopping at Windermere, Ambleside, Rydal, Grasmere and Keswick.

The Lake District welcomes tourists all the year round and there are many activities such as walking, hiking, paddle boarding, boat hire, bike hire, wild swimming, bird watching, galleries and special events.  Please note if you are planning on walking to the summit of Scafell Pike you'll need an hour and a half to drive there and park plus the proper equipment and a planned route to get you up and down safely in changing weather conditions.
